Our Ethos

At Little Cotton Clothes we believe it is essential to care for the environment and the people who make our clothes. We are a very small team but this is a hugely important part of what we do and we feel a great responsibility to make the right choices and the ethics and sustainability of our brand is always at the forefront of our minds.
We believe beautiful clothes for your child shouldn't cost the earth so we choose to use only natural materials and organic cotton, and make in very small quantities to ensure little goes to waste.
We feel a great responsibility for the makers of our clothes and are happy that our little business provides ongoing employment for them in a safe and happy environment.

Our Impact

Every piece of clothing we wear has used power and water to be produced there is little avoiding this but we do everything we can to minimise our impact. We are most definitely not a fast or throwaway fashion brand and very little ever goes to waste.  If we have leftover fabric we use it up in a new style or a patchwork blanket - something that will be loved by someone.
We are inspired by nostalgia rather than fashion and  we encourage our customers to shop mindfully and only buy the items they need and love and will wear on repeat and nothing makes us happier than to see our garments being handed down and re-loved.

Our Quality

The quality of our items is extremely important to us and we hope that with this focus that the clothes we make will last for many years.  We use little hidden details such as french seams to ensure our clothes are the best quality.
It is also hugely important to us that our clothes are affordable but more importantly that we always pay a fair price for them.

Our Makers

We work with a small number of very carefully chosen factories in India & Turkey, with whom we strive to develop long-lasting and trustful relationships and ensure from the start that they are committed to regularly evaluating their ethical standards which align with our own.
Our factories are ethically audited & GOTS certified to ensure that minimum working age is adhered to, that employees are cared for, employment is chosen freely, working hours are adhered to and employees work in safe and hygienic conditions.

Our Materials

We choose only natural materials, prioritising organic cotton wherever possible. Because we make in small quantities, there are occasions when minimum order requirements mean organic isn't achievable — in those cases, we choose BCI cotton as our alternative.
Organic cotton is grown without harmful chemicals, making it kinder to the soil, to the farmers who tend it, and to your child's skin. It requires less water and leaves a lighter footprint at every stage.
We believe the fabrics closest to your child should be as natural as can be — and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Our Knitters

We also feel so lucky to work with the most amazing team of hand-knitters in Nepal.  Every knit we sell supports the amazing ladies and their families who knit them. Each beautiful piece is knitted for us in a non-profit, fair-trade certified organisation which supports and empowers underprivileged and low income families. Your knitwear not only provides much needed employment and income for these ladies but also free schooling for their children.
